Yes, it's been a long two months of hiatus from my blog and from the internets in general. I figured I would take a breather once we moved. The first few months of the year were so tumultuous and I needed to step back. I'm behind on all things knitblog and I've marked all my bloglines "read" to start fresh.
Moving into our house has been wonderfully time consuming. Every time I turn around I see little things that we can do because it's OURS. There is the Ivy and Gardenias we planted in the front yard, the painting we've done in the bathroom and our compost pile out back. I've made curtains and hung pictures and spent many an hour sitting on the back deck enjoying the weather and just watching the birds.
There is also the new neighborhood to explore. Hapeville is an old city with tons of charming bungalows and beautiful greenery. I've taken to coming home and meandering around every afternoon. We are quite close to a park which means lots of kids playing (and tons of baseball games here lately). It's just nice to come home and feel so "at home".
There has been knitting. Not at the same speed or intensity there once was but, don't think that means I've given up on it. I find it the perfect accompaniment to an evening on the deck with a cold drink.
On the cooler evenings I've been donning this lovely:

My Central Park Hoodie. There are not words to express how I love this sweater!

I used 6 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted in Sweet Grape and it has spent many weeks sitting 99% finished with just the seaming to do (why oh why did I put that off). It still needs buttons but even without them it has become the perfect sweater for chilly evenings like tonight.
Now that the wifi is up and running I think I will be able to merge my love of the backyard and my love of blogging so *hopefully* my next post won't be 2 months away!
Just a quick post as we are still not totally moved in (or out) of either house and tons of craziness going on. If you have been watching the news in the past 24 hours you might have seen some of the horrible weather we are having here in metro Atlanta. LLA has some really dramatic photos of the damage from last night's tornado here.
Well after all that last night, we heard the tornado warning siren start around 3:30 and turned on the TV to check. The local news had a shot of a tornado following the I-20 corridor through downtown Atlanta and vicinity, the same areas that were hit last night. We watched the weather outside change as the news told us it was passing through Kirkwood which is all of 2 miles from us. It was a really tense few minutes but thankfully it passed us without any harm.
It looks like the worst has passed *fingers crossed*. I really hope all my Atlanta friends are okay!
Regular blog posts to resume soon with at least 2 if not 3 finished objects and tons of new house pics!!
I'm thrilled to say that our inspection went fabulously! We are looking at a closing date of next Friday.... next Friday we could be home owners! Eeek!!!!
Also ending on a high note, I also managed to finish a knit this month! Sadly, the first of the year, of course I have had one hell of a year thus far. Enough about that, lets focus on that finished knit!

This hat was all about the yarn. It's a fantastic superwash dyed by Black bunny fibers. The colorway is Audacity inspired by Barack Obama and with a portion of each sale going towards his presidential campaign.
I immediately loved the colorway & knew it needed to be shown off as a hat.
Thanks to Sandra's Raverly queue, I found this little beauty at through the loops.
The only mods I made were making the ribbing much wider.

My central park hoodie is *this* close to being my second FO of 2008. I may put it on hold & switch to another hat or small project since we will be moving soon! Yay!
Thanks again for all your well wishes and positive thoughts last week! Y'all rock!!
